Conservation Education

Poster Contest

Each Spring the Butler Soil & Water Conservation District holds a poster contest. For more information please dowload our poster contest form. The bottom section of the form must be attached to the back of every entry. The rules for the contest follow the National Association for Conservation District's poster contest rules. Winners of this county contest are sent on to a regional contest, where winners go on to state and hopefully eventually the national contest. For more information visit http://www.nacdnet.org/outreach/awards/poster.htm

The role of the Butler SWCD Education Specialist is to be a resource for educators, students, scout leaders and parents who are interested in activities, resources, and lessons regarding earth science and natural resources. Programs can be scheduled Monday through Thursday, year-round. However, some evening and weekend programs may also be scheduled if necessary.

Please look at the links on the left to find out more about the Butler SWCDs Education Program.

Email List

I receive many pieces of mail and e-mail that I keep thinking how useful you may find it. Some of them contain great opportunities for teachers such as workshops, special events, and grants. If I get the information early enough I will post it in the newsletter Accent on Conservation, however some of it is received after I have already sent out the newsletter. If you would be interested in finding out about these opportunities, please send me an e-mail with your name, school, and grade level. I promise that I will not send any forwards, spam e-mails, and even if the joke of the day is great I won't bother you with it.
