Teacher Information

Free Programs

A variety of free programs are available for your classroom for helping you teach topics that are unfamiliar with, if you don't have the resources to each, or if you just feel like having a new face to speak to your students.

Workshops and In-Service Days

Full day workshops (6 hours or more) and introductory programs (3 hours or less) for the following programs are available: Project WILD, Project WILD Aquatics, Project WILD School Sites, Project WET (Water Education for Teachers), stream monitoring, and On the Trail of Non-Point Pollution Sources. Upcoming workshops are announced in the Accent on Conservation newsletter. A minimal charge may be issued, only to cover the cost of some materials.

In-services can be arranged upon request. Topics can include materials from any of the previously mentioned workshops or other classroom program topics.

Lending Library

The Lending Library contains numerous books, videos, posters, lesson binders, and pamphlets to address a variety of science-related topics. Items can be signed out and borrowed for seven days, or longer through special arrangements.

Land Lab

Land lab, or outdoor classroom information is a frequent request. Butler SWCD grants, in the amounts of $300, are offered once in the spring and once in the fall. Butler County schools looking for funds to establish a new land lab, or expand/improve old ones, are eligible. A proposal form must be completed and returned to the the Butler SWCD office. Online help sheets are available: Points to Remember and Outline for Land Lab Development.
