GIS Info: SSURGO for Butler County. Cost: $5. Bring in a new unwrapped writable CD, or one can be provided by the Butler SWCD. Information is also available at http://www.ftw.nrcs.usda.gov/ssur_data.html. Find USDA File #OH017. Customers must have proper software, such as ArcView, in order to read and use the data.
Tree & Groundcover Sales: An annual event to offer several different plant species and gardening extras. The next sale is scheduled for Spring 2007 and orders are now being taken. Order information and an order form are available online or by calling the Butler SWCD office at (513) 887-3720. The order deadline is March 28, 2008 with pick-up on April 24-25, 2008.
No-Till Drill Rental: Butler SWCD will deliver the drill to your property. All appointments are arranged by calling 887-3720. The charge for the drill rental is $9.00/acre ($75.00 minimum). Requires 75 HP tractor to pull. Drill is a 1590 John Deere. It is 10' wide and equipped with dual hydraulics.
Soil Survey: This resource lists all 88 different soils in Butler County and includes characteristics of each type. Our supply of surveys is very low, therefore, entire books can not be requested. However, photocopies of individual pages, including maps, are available.
Homeowners' Guide: Book that provides homeowners with information about household hazardous wastes, composting, gardening, water use and a variety of other property-related topics. Cost: $1.00 each.
Topographic maps: Original maps of Butler County quadrants are available at $6.00 each. Black and white photocopies of a small section are available for free. Scale= 1 : 24000.
Wetland maps: Maps of Butler County are not for sale, but smaller sections can be photocopied for free. Scale= 1 : 24000.
Groundwater maps & books: Butler County only. $8.00 each.
Aerial photos: Black and white photos are available for photocopying only. Flight dates: 1938, 1962 and 1968. Photos taken in 1988 and 1994 are available in the Farm Service Agency (FSA) office, next to the Butler SWCD.
Marking Flags: 30" wire with attached 4" x 5" bright pink plastic flag. 10 flags for $1.00.
Planting Bars: The 3" wide and 10" long wedge is attached to an offset steel handle approximately 30" long. Weighs 8.5 lbs. $35.00 each.
