Seasonal/Annual Programs Tree & Groundcover Sale: This is a great opportunity to buy saplings and groundcover for your property, school, church or organization at a relatively low cost. They can be used for windbreaks, wildlife habitat, reforestation efforts, conservation practices, and aesthetic purposes. Pond Clinics: These evening programs are available to anyone with questions or concerns regarding their personal pond. There are usually two sessions; one in the spring, another in the summer. These sessions are free to attend. Air Tours: Flights from the Butler Regional Airport circle over the county to look at conservation practices and the autumn foliage. Planes hold only three passengers and the pilot. Tours last about 30 in-flight minutes. Contact the office for more details, prices, and reservations. This program is held in alternating years from the Farm-City Tour. Held again in the fall of 2007. Farm-City Tour: This free self-guided tour includes several local properties. This is an opportunity to see the agriculture business up close and personal. The sites are in the same general portion of the county each year, and a different portion hosts the event in the upcoming years. This program is held in alternating years from the Air Tours. Held again in the fall of 2006. Annual Meeting: In the fall of each year, a buffet-style dinner is combined with an update of the District's accomplishments. An election is held to assign officers to the Butler SWCD Board of Supervisors. The remaining time is used to distribute awards, present the evening's speaker and hand out door prizes. Butler County Fair: Our booth is located in the Commissioners' Tent, near the northwest gate of the fairgrounds. Stop in and sign up to win a door prize. We also have children's activities taking place in the Farm Zone just across from our booth. The fair is held the last full week of July each year. Gerald A. Morris Memorial Scholarship: A $500 non-renewable scholarship is awarded to one college Sophomore each Spring to be used for tuition or books for the upcoming Fall semester. Application Info. Project WILD workshops: Full day Project WILD and/or Aquatic WILD workshops are arranged throughout the year. Project WILD-School Sites workshops are usually held in the spring each year. A minimal fee may be issued to cover the cost of some materials. Workshops available upon request, during the summer or school year. The curriculum is correlated to Ohio Science Standards. Healthy Water Healthy People workshops: This curriculum focuses on water; looking at water chemistry and other related issues. It is designed for 5th - 12th grade teachers. The curriculum is correlated to Ohio Science Standards. Workshops available upon request. Project Water Education for Teachers (WET): This curriculum focuses on water; from physical aspects to global issues. The curriculum is correlated to Ohio Science Standards. Workshops available upon request. Project Learning Tree: This curriculum focuses on many aspects of trees, biology, environment, forestry, etc. The curriculum is correlated to Ohio Science Standards. Workshops available upon request.
