Butler SWCD offers training to teachers and the community on a variety of natural resources topics.

Lynn, the Education Specialist, is a certified workshop facilitator for several nationally recognized curricula. Each year, she attends training's around the state to stay ahead of changes in the standards and methods of teaching.

 

Workshops include:

  • Early Childhood

    • Growing Up Wild

    • Environmental Experiences for Early Childhood

    • Worm Bin Composting

    • Curious KIDSS

 

  • Middle Childhood

    • Project WET (Water Education for Teachers)

    • Project Learning Tree

    • Project WILD

    • Project Underground (Geology)

    • Wonders of Wetlands

    • Soils

    • Worm Bin Composting

 

  • High School

    • Healthy Water, Healthy People

Workshop fees can be paid by check, or online with a credit card.

 

We schedule several different workshops that are open to the community throughout the year. If you have a large enough group, we can hold a special workshop just for you.

Workshop topics include:

  • Rain Barrels: Make your own rain barrel

  • Rain Gardens

  • Composting: Make your own worm bin

  • Pond Clinics: Construction, maintenance, trouble shooting

  • Floating Treatment Wetlands

  • Farm Bill Programs

Depending upon the workshop, there may be a cost involved. We only charge enough to recover the cost of the materials.
