2025 Wildlife Garden Series

This year, we will hold the first two sessions indoors, then move outdoors for the summer and fall sessions. We hope that you can join us.

​

Registration: Registration is requested for this FREE series, to assist us with providing resources. 

​

February 10: Creating an urban backyard habitat
At the Lane Library in Fairfield, 6:00 PM

  • Turning your yard into a habitat while still maintaining lawn.

  • Creating amphibian habitat.


April 14: Native plants for happy HOAs
At the Lane Library in Fairfield, 6:00 PM

  • Low maintenance native plants.

  • Creating pollinator hotels.


July 14: Garden Tour, focusing on urban issues for native plants
At the Miami Hamilton Campus Conservatory, 6:00 PM

  • Tour the gardens around the conservatory. If you arrive early, you can also visit inside the conservatory.

  • Learn about urban issues, such as road salt, that can be a hindrance to native plants.


October (Date TBD) Pawpaw Picnic
Oxford Township, 6:00 PM

  • What are pawpaw's and how to grow them.

  • What to make from the fruit.

BEST Volunteer Events 

​Be one of the BEST and join Butler SWCD's Butler Environmental Stewardship Team at one of our volunteer events throughout the year. We hold river cleanups, invasive plant removals, hold BioBlitzes, package milkweed seeds, and more. 

  • January 16, 4 pm at Butler SWCD. Indoors packing seeds, making class kits, and other activities.

  • February 27, 4 pm in West Chester. Cutting willow stakes to be used for stream bank restoration projects. Rain date is in March.

  • March 22, 9 am - 12 noon. Invasive removal with the Fairfield Izaak Walton in Milford Township.

  • April 19, 9 am - 12 noon. Planting a rain garden at the new Morgan Township Park.

Registration is requested to help with supplies and to send info if an event is canceled due to weather.  Events are also posted about a month prior on Miami and UC community service website if you are a student needing to document hours.

2025 Butler SWCD Board of Supervisors meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month at 10:00 am. Unless otherwise noted below.

Meetings are held at Butler SWCD, 1802 Princeton Rd, Hamilton OH 45011.

2025 Butler SWCD Board of Supervisors meetings will also be accessible via Zoom. If you would like to attend, please contact our office for the zoom meeting link and passcode.
