Well Water Testing 

Pickup your sample bottle now

This year, we are asking those who would like their well water tested to schedule an appointment with either Butler SWCD or Preble SWCD (whichever is easiest for you to visit). During this appointment, you will watch a video on how to correctly collect a well water sample and you will also be given your sampling bottle. 


Appointments can be made from July 12 - August 13. Appointments will be scheduled  during normal business hours only. 

Actual drop off day for your well water sample testing is Saturday, August 14 from 10 AM to 1 PM at Miami University, Oxford.

Cover Crop Field Day

Thursday, August 19

9 AM - 3 PM

Butler SWCD ACED Site, 1802 Princeton Road, Hamilton 45011

Join us for our second cover crop field day, where we will have guest speakers presenting on topics such as beneficial bacteria, how to make no-till corn work properly, and cover crop root systems. We will also have a cover crop roller demonstration, lunch, and of course, ice cream. 

This event is FREE, but we ask you RSVP by August 12 to help us plan for food. To find out more and/or to RSVP, contact Brady at 513-785-6663. 

Agricultural Pesticide Disposal Drop-Off Event

Tuesday, August 24

9 AM - 3 PM

Butler County Fairgrounds, 1715 Fairgrove Avenue, Hamilton 45011

This event allows Ohio farmers to dispose of old pesticides safely and responsibly. 

This pesticide disposal event is free of charge, but only farm chemicals will be accepted. Paint, antifreeze, solvents, or household or non-farm pesticides will NOT be accepted. Only Ohio residents may participate.

Backyard Bash: Take Back Your Yard Naturally

Come join us as we celebrate 79 years with our theme of backyard conservation.  We will have a guest speaker, free food, displays, and much more.  You will also have the chance to vote in our SWCD Board of Supervisors election.

Canal Cleanup- along the bike trail and Hamilton's bird sanctuary

Thursday, August 5 from 5 pm

We will head out along both banks of the canal, cleaning trash and admiring wildlife. If you have a kayak or canoe you wish to clean up in the water from, please email Lynn.

We will provide trash grabbers, gloves, etc.

Summer Kids Programs

We hold numerous family and child friendly programs throughout the summer. More information about registration, local, times, etc can be found at


Conservation Kids

Tuesdays- for ages 8 -14.

Learn about a local environmental issue, then work on a service project.

Registration required. Max of 20 participants.

Family Fun Fridays

Fridays at Rentschler Forest Metropark. Program starts at 10 am.

Fair Booth Display

Butler SWCD has a booth with displays located in the Farm Zone Building during the Butler County Fair. Due to COVID, most of our items have QR codes to remain as touch-less as possible.  Click here to view all of our information, crafts, and upcoming events that we have on display.

Board Meetings 

2021 Butler SWCD Board of Supervisors meetings will be held on the second Wednesday of each month at 3:30 pm. Unless otherwise noted.

Meetings are held at Butler SWCD, 1802 Princeton Rd, Hamilton OH 45011.
